Fiji NLTB case consolidated and adjourned

3:13 pm on 7 February 2012

The Suva High Court has consolidated two cases involving the ousted Fiji Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and two former Native Land Trust Board executives Kalivati Bakani and Keni Dakuidreketi.

FBC News reports that the judge ruled in favour of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, saying that this will bring down the number of witnesses from 58 to 38 and save time, money and resources.

The three are alleged to have defrauded the Native Land Trust Board in the 1990s.

Mr Qarase and Mr Bakani appeared in court while Mr Dakuidreketi is away overseas.

The case has been adjourned until March the 8th.
