The Fiji sevens team has added motivation to do well in the Wellington leg of the IRB World Series, which kicks off at Westpac Stadium this afternoon.

After winning the opening tournament of the season on the Gold Coast Fiji's form dipped at the back end of last year, culminating in a 48-0 thrashing by Wales in Port Elizabeth.

Despite that the three time Wellington champions go into this weekend's tournament as joint series leaders alongside New Zealand.

Veteran back Osea Kolinisau says the players are have been working hard on ironing out some technical deficiencies in their game and want to bring some joy back to those affected by the flooding back home in Fiji.

"We are focusing this as our main turning point of the tournament. If we want to win this to stay in contention with New Zealand and the other big teams. We like to, if we play good, dedicate the way we play to the people affected by the floods, especially in the Western area of Viti Levu."
