A delegation of New Caledonia's pro-independence FLNKS movement is in Vanuatu for talks with the secretariat of the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
The delegation is led by the veteran spokesman Victor Tutugoro, who is to meet the MSG's new Director General, Peter Forau.
The meeting is seen as a pre-cursor for an MSG mission to New Caledonia later this year.
The FLNKS is also due to hold the MSG summit next year after it was hosted last year by Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
The New Caledonian delegates are also due to make a courtesy call on the Vanuatu government.
