Cricket PNG hopes to appoint a new national coach by Tuesday following Brad Hogg's shock recall to the Australian Twenty20 team.

The 40 year old, who last played for his country in March 2008, has been selected to face India after impressing for the Perth Scorchers in the Australian domestic competition.

The General Manager of Cricket PNG, Greg Campbell, is flying to Australia on Thursday to interview candidates to replace Hogg and says the changeover won't affect the team's preparations for the T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in March.

"Rarua Dikana's been filling the void here and I have - I'm actually going as an assistant coach with the team to Dubai anyhow - so the preparations won't be that disruptive actually. There will be a smooth transition and a couple of the people that we're looking at have already been to PNG on different occasions so they know a few of the boys. Brad's also indicated that he will still be involved in Cricket PNG this year with the Big Bash and Battle of the Nations so the transition will be quite smooth."
