Vanuatu police have used forensic evidence to arrest five suspects in connection with a major break-in and theft in five government departments, including the Police Service Commission in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Detective Chief Inspector George Towmey says his forensic team identified the suspects through their finger prints.

Mr Towmey says police also recovered cash and some of the stolen items including laptops.

Mr Towmey says he is confident that the arrests will help shed light on other unresolved crimes.
