4:02 pm on 20 January 2012

Fiji's interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says a decision has been made on which firm will conduct voter registration for the 2014 election.

He says there will be an announcement in the next couple of days on who will provide the new electronic system.

The interim government has budgeted 3.1 million US dollars this year for registration and re-writing the country's constitution.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says foreign missions in Fiji have been kept up to date on the process

"We had the last briefing with them a couple of days before Christmas and indeed we have asked the development partners in the various missions over here if they want to contribute towards the EVR exercise by way of any financial assistance."
