American Samoa hospital charge hike delayed

4:05 pm on 16 January 2012

Patients at the LBJ Hospital in American Samoa have been spared higher fees - at least for now.

The Chairman of the Hospital Authority Board says the rate increase has been delayed by another 20 days.

It is the second time that the board has postponed the hike which was originally set to go into effect on December the 24th.

At that time, the board decided to delay the increase by 20 days and indicated if its funding situation didn't change dramatically, it would raise hospital fees on January the 14th.

After meeting the Governor and Fono, the board has decided to postpone the rate increase for an additional 20 days.
