Samoa old coins no longer legal

Samoa's coins depicting the late head of state, Malietoa Tanumafili II, is no longer a legal tender but a last chance has been given to the public to exchange their old coins at the Central bank this week.

The new coins depicting the current head of state, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, have been circulating since last November.

The old 2 tala note has been replaced with a new coin however the public is still using the note until January 27.
