Investigation into pool death at Fiji barracks continuing

Fiji police say an investigation into the death of a police officer at military barracks last month is continuing.

Police constable Vetaia Ratuvono, who was on a training exercise at Suva's Queen Elizabeth Barracks, was found dead at the facility's pool on December the 15th.

It has been suggested that the officer's death was the result of foul play but the police say there is nothing to suggest that's the case and that Constable Ratuvono died during a swimming exercise.

They say the police are still waiting for the results of an autopsy to come from the pathologist and the investigation is being handled by a separate team.

Superintendent Kishur Kumar declined to comment either on the makeup of the team or when it might conclude its work.
