Vanuatu's head of state is to be medivaced to Australia this week.
President Iolu Abbil was admitted to the capital's central hospital, and its Superintendent, Dr Willie Tokon, says the President's condition is serious.
Dr Tokon says President Abbil had an operation in Australia last year for "an internal complication" and that has resurfaced and he needs to see his doctor again in Sydney.
Meanwhile, the Say No Committee to Vanuatu's Accession to the World Trade Organisation, is concerned the acting head of state, Speaker of Parliament, Dunstan Hilton, may sign the bill of Protocol of Accession to the WTO into law in the President's absence.
The Bill was passed by parliament last month, and so far President Abbil has delayed signing it into law because of the public outcry against it.
