The Cook Islands government says it will do what is necessary to ensure the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee, or CISNOC, maintains its link with the International Olympic Committee.
This week CISNOC revealed it needed just over 600 thousand US dollars to clear debts, pay to send a team to the London Olympics and to pay its expenses over the next 6 months.
The minister of finance and sports, Mark Brown, says the government is committed to the body's continued operation but has yet to make decisions about how it will help.
Currently CISNOC gets more than three quarters of a million dollars from a number of sources - the Olympic Solidarity fund, the Commonwealth Games fund, regional sports bodies as well as the Cook Islands government.
