Figures released in French Polynesia show a ten-percent drop in tourist arrival numbers in October over the same month last year.

The number of foreign tourists for the month was down to 14,500 after a sharp drop in accommodation available on cruise ships.

Overall, the figures for the year show 6.5 percent growth, with more visitors staying with friends and family.

The occupancy rate of hotels for October was just below 60 percent.
