The Fiji Rugby Union's interim Chief executive, Pio Bosco Tikoisuva says it is about time they relied on local players and do away with overseas based players for the next Rugby World Cup.

FBC Sport reports Tikoisuva told the Union's Special General meeting at the weekend that, during the world cup in New Zealand, overseas based players were worried of jeopardising their club contracts and of picking up injuries.

He says changing coaches between world cups also affected the team's performance in terms of putting together combinations and insisted the board put in place a roadmap leading up to the next RWC.
