2:50 pm on 15 December 2011

A delegation of the New Caledonian group representing the indigenous Kanak population, the FLNKS, is visiting the Melanesian Spearhead Group countries.

Led by the president of the New Caledonia Congress, Roch Wamytan, the delegation is in Vanuatu after visiting Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

The group aims to brief MSG leaders about the development of the Noumea Accord, which paves the way for self determination in the French territory.

While in Port Vila, Mr Wamytan signed an agreement of exchange between the Congress and the parliament of Vanuatu.

The FLNKS is also expected to visit Fiji.
