Air Pacific has reported a substantially reduced loss for the last financial year.

The Fiji based airline has recorded an operating loss of 1.9 million US dollars for the year ending March 2011.

That compares to the previous year's 50.7 million dollar loss.

Air Pacific Group reported an operating loss of 2.3 million dollars down from 43.3 million the previous year.

The Group includes subsidiary Pacific Sun and a stake in the Sofitel Resort on Denarau

The airline puts the significant reduction in losses down to restructuring and upgrading the airline.

Chairman of Air Pacific's board, Nalin Patel, says management and employee efforts led to an increase of 37 thousand passengers and a reduction of non-fuel costs of 7.1 million dollars.

Air Pacific was voted one of the world's top ten small airlines in this year's Condé Nast Traveler reader survey.
