Woman in Samoa charged after attempted alleged robbery fails

A young woman in Samoa is facing charges following an unsuccessful attempt to rob a Western Union money transfer branch.

The police spokesman says the 22 year old suspect was armed with a deodorant spray that she allegedly used to spray a woman employee's eyes with intent to rob her.

The assistant police commissioner, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, says the woman suspect committed the crime after she locked the front door of the office, leaving just her and the worker inside.

However the worker fought back and stymied the would be thief.

Police are encouraging businesses to improve security as the holiday season approaches.
