The Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands rugby teams took the lead after the opening round of the 2011 Oceania Cup in Port Moresby yesterday.

The home team stormed to an impressive 78-3 win over the Vanuatu side, scoring a total of 13 tries to overwhelm a team that had no answers to the power and speed of the Papua New Guineans.

The Solomon Islands scrapped out a 22-19 win against the more fancied Niueans, despite the obvious weight disadvantage.

Man of the match, Llisoni Delaiverata scored two tries for the Solomon's.
