The Commonwealth Health Centre in the CNMI has found a backlog of five million US dollars in unpaid bills dating back several years.

This is part of a total debt estimated at 52 million dollars, of which only a fraction is considered collectable.

The Lieutenant Governor Eloy Inos and the CNMI Healthcare Corporation chief executive Juan Babauta say piles of documents that had been neglected for many years have been uncovered.

Most of the backlogged debts are more than six years old.
