A former Papua New Guinean cabinet minister who fled to Brisbane while wanted for questioning on corruption allegations is due to face court in Port Moresby on Thursday.
The former planning minister Paul Tiensten was arrested and bailed on Tuesday after returning to Port Moresby following a two-month stay in Brisbane, where he fled when PNG police requested to interview him.
Mr Tiensten was charged with misappropriation of funds, conspiracy to defraud the state and abuse of office.
Task Force Sweep, set up by the government to tackle corruption, interviewed Mr Tiensten and handed him over to police on Tuesday.
He's charged in in connection with the approval of a more than four million US dollar payment to a fake airline company.
The taskforce is investigating the disappearance of over three billion US dollars of development funds while Mrn Tiensten was planning minister under the government of Sir Michael Somare.
He will appear before the national court on Thursday morning.
