Sport: Fiji rugby star Leone Nakarawa back with military

1:57 pm on 11 November 2011

Fiji rugby lock Leone Nakarawa has been named to play for the Army team in this afternoon's annual clash with the Police team in Suva.

Nakarawa was given a visa earlier this year to enter New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup, in a temporary exemption to the government's travel ban on members of the Fiji military.

The exemption was granted on the basis that Nakarawa has resigned from the military.

But a spokesperson from the Fiji Rugby Union says Nakarawa is believed to have turned down a professional contract with an English club following the World Cup, and has since rejoined the Army.

The Ratu Sukuna Bowl match between the Army and Police teams kicks off at four o'clock local time.
