Samoa's prime minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, has opened a multimillion dollar complex aimed at the convention market.

The six storey Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi building has been paid for with a fifty three million US dollars loan from China.

The state of the art building has special infrastructure to cater for international conferences.

The Samoa government sought a soft term loan from China five years ago for the building that will also house 12 government ministries and corporations.
