The Fiji interim government has forced a big drop in the cost of flour with price control orders coming into effect.

In a press conference the Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says it's the third review of the price of flour in 2011.

Under the change, the average ex-factory price of flour is 26 percent lower.

This means in major urban centres a kilogramme should cost consumers 1 dollar 4 cents Fijian, instead of one dollar 41 cents.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says prices in more remote areas are likely to be higher due to delivery costs.
