Samoan nurses expect promised pay-out

The Samoa Nurses Association is waiting for a promised pay-out in two days time before it decides whether to pursue any action.

The Association and National Health Services Board met last week to discuss a pay rise that was approved in parliament in July.

The vice president of the Nurses Association, Ulisese Tapuvae, says the board agreed to finally enact the pay rise on November the 2nd.

She says they will be making sure the increase reflects the base scales that were passed by cabinet.

"If the pay rise will not meet the expectations the Samoan Nurses Association will look into further actions to make sure that we will get what we have been proposed for the pay rise."

Ulisese Tapuvae says they are not ruling out strike action if the pay rise falls short.
