Fiji group to look at ways to attract new freight carriers

10:01 am on 27 October 2011

Fiji's interim government and business will look at ways to attract new freight carriers to Fiji.

The proposal is among several to be reviewed following a meeting to discuss changes in flights affecting cargo from Fiji.

Exporters are concerned Air Pacific's planned reduction of flights by wide-bodied aircraft to Sydney would affect their business.

More than a dozen representatives from the interim government, Air Pacific, the textile and agriculture industries have met to improve communication and find solutions.

An exporter worker group has been established to deal with immediate issues.
