US helps fund Guam housing

The United States federal government is giving Guam four and a half million dollars for urban development.

The money, from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is to support the building of suitable housing environments and expand job opportunities.

There is also some funding to raise the quality and number of emergency shelters for the homeless.

Guam's governor, Eddie Calvo, says this sort of funding goes a long way to helping bring the dream of homeownership closer to those who otherwise could not afford it.
