Vanuatu's finance minister says parliamentary allocations are being paid out, but acknowledges there have been delays.

Under the parliamentary act, MPs area each entitled to 10,000 US dollars for their constituencies.

The MP for Malekula, Paul Telukluk, says he had yet to be paid his allocation, adding that only government MP's have got theirs.

But Moana Kalosil Carcasses says the allocation for Mr Telukluk and at least ten other opposition members will be ready this week.

"At the moment, we have decided to pay allocation but according to the cashflow that we have at the moment the economy is going down, going slow. So we are paying our bills slowly but surely. So I understand that we've already issued cheques for 12 members from the government, and there is 10 members of the opposition that we've issued out cheques for today."
