Five children were burnt to death on Sunday morning in North East Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands.
The Solomon Stars reports the five were sleeping in their home with their father when the fatal incident occurred.
It reports a local villager saying it was very early in the morning and people were still sleeping.
He said the father and his 17-year-old son managed to escape but with serious injuries.
The Guadalcanal Province Police at Tetere are investigating circumstances surrounding the fire.
Police say the father is in a critical condition and is currently under observation at the Intensive Care Unit of the National Referral Hospital.
