The second Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Ministers of Art and Culture meeting gets underway in the Solomon Islands capital today.

The Solomon Star reports that delegations from Vanuatu, Fijim Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia are all due to attend.

The first such meeting was held in New Caledonia during the Melanesia Festival of Arts last year.

The purpose of the meeting was to review the issues and matters that were raised during the first meeting and to endorse and recommend what to do next.

Cultural items on the agenda include discussion of a treaty of traditional and cultural expression which was signed on March this year in Suva, Fiji.

Another aim of the two-day meeting is for the MSG to look at the preparation of the Pacific Arts Festival to be held in Honiara from July 1-14 next year.
