The Cook Islands government says all northern island communities within the Cook Islands will benefit from renewable energy projects in the next three years.
Nearly 3 million US dollars is still available for the country's use through the Pacific Environment Community Fund.
Prime minister, Henry Puna, says his government is developing plans for renewable energy projects on Pukapuka, Nassau, Manihiki and Suwarrow and these will then be submitted to the Fund.
Meanwhile the Cook Islands, Japan and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat have signed a deal, worth just over a million US dollars, to deliver renewable energy to Rakahanga.
The project will see solar panels installed on the island.
