South Korea helps Pacific in fight against NCD

South Korea has given the Pacific Islands Forum secretariat 300,000 US dollars to help in the fight against lifestyle diseases in the region.

Pacific leaders at the recent summit in Auckland expressed alarm that 75 percent of all adult deaths in the region are due to non commmunicable disease.

The money from South Korea will go towards a regional training programme for primary healthcare workers.

It will include an four-week training programme run by Seoul National University Hospital and the Fiji School of Medicine.
