Sport: New Caledonia's medal domination a concern

The Pacific Games Council Vice president says New Caledonia's medal winning domination is a concern.

The 14th edition of the Games wrapped up last weekend with host New Caledonia even more dominant in its medal winning ability than four years ago in Samoa.

But Vice President James Tobin says New Caledonia's rivals must persist in their endeavours.

"You can't blame New Caledonia for how they play in competitions.Because they plan well and they have a great local sports programme.I think we have to learn from that,so I have to congratulate them.I think we have to work harder, us who are smaller and not winning medals.I think each country has to look at each sport they're going to play in.See if they're capable of winning a medal instead of just competing. And that's the issues we're going through right now."
