CNMI now 4th biggest shrimp producer within US

New figures show the Northern Marianas was the fourth highest shrimp producer in United States last year.

It surpassed other U.S. Pacific jurisdictions such as Guam and Hawaii.

In data supplied by Texas A&M University, the CNMI harvested a total of 20 tonnes of shrimp last year.

Texas was by far the biggest producer, followed by Alabama and Florida.

There are three shrimp farms in the CNMI: two on Saipan and one on Rota.
