Sport: Europe the making of Vanuatu pair

10:59 am on 8 September 2011

Vanuatu pair Miller Elwin and Lineline Matuatu will get some much needed rest today after booking their place in the beach volleyball semi finals at the Pacific Games.

The pair, who've spent the past few months competing in Europe, were leading 14-11 in the opening set when their Tahitian opponents withdrew through injury.

Tomorrow they'll face Papua New Guinea for a spot in the gold medal match and Miller Elwin, who won a bronze medal at the last Pacific Games, says the duo have learnt a lot in their travels this year.

"We have more experience because we have toured in three months in Europe - because we play other team at a high level and get more experience."

Following the Pacific Games, Miller Elwin, says the pair will return to Vanuatu to train before travelling to Thailand in November to compete on the world tour.
