A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Tonga and American Samoa but a tsunami warning was not issued.
The epicentre of Monday night's quake, was located about 73 kilometres north-north east of Hihifo, Tonga; 254 kilometres southwest of Apia, Samoa and 326 kilometres west-southwest of Pago Pago, American Samoa.
The United States Geological Survey says it was recorded at a depth 35.4 kilometres making it a shallow earthquake.
