Locals near the Gold Ridge mine in Solomon Islands have blocked access to the site.
The Solomon Star says workers of Gold Ridge Mining Limited have been prevented from reaching the mine after logs were put across the access road.
No details have been given about the nature of the dispute but the paper says the roadblock will stay until the demands are met.
It also says women and children have joined the protest.
