Sport: Pool keeps New Caledonia well out in front

Host New Caledonia has forged a healthy lead on the medal table heading into the fourth day of competition at the Pacific Games.

The swimming pool has produced 18 gold and New Caledonia has collected 23 premier medals in its total of 55.

Lara Grangeon has had a stellar run in the pool, winning nine gold medals for New Caledonia.

Tahiti has 14 gold and 26 all up while Fiji is third on the medal table with seven.

Their four golds have come from the shooting and three from karate.

Papua New Guinea has five gold and Tonga two.
