A landowner in Papua New Guinea's Madang province says his clan is deeply disappointed by the court decision to give clearance to the Ramu nickel project's deep sea tailings placement.
But a protracted legal case in which local landowners are challenging the planned tailings pipeline is continuing, despite the dismissal of their application for an injunction in the National Court in July.
They're now seeking a ruling in the Supreme Court.
The landowners have fears over the environmental impact of the pipeline, and Terry Kunning of the Sibiag clan, says the tailings system threatens the lives of communities on the Rai coast.
He says there are few options left.
"Maybe we take physical action... just like what Bougainville have done. That may be the last option."
