Conflict of interest alleged in EU deals with PNG and Fiji

A Spanish manufacturers association claims there is a conflict of interest in the team of consultants selected by the European Commission to review agreements the European Union has with Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

The National Association of Manufacturers of Canned Fish and Seafood says the experts chosen for the task are linked to the Forum Fisheries Agency.

It says the FFA has a belligerent attitude against tuna companies in Europe.

Islands Business reports the Spanish association questions the neutrality and objectivity of the team, and is calling on the EC to rectify what it calls a serious and obvious conflict of interest.
