The Samoa government has endorsed the appointment of Atelina Emma Enari as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Samoa.

She replaced former Governor, Leasi Papalii Tommy Scanlan, who stepped down recently.

Atelina is the first woman to be appointed as head of the central bank, and the second Samoan.

She has worked at the bank since 1991 and held a senior financial management position before her new appointment.

Atelina also holds a law degree from the South Pacific Law School.
