Senior Cooks MP faces tax charges

A long-serving senior member of Cook Islands Parliament is facing 10 criminal charges, relating to an alleged failure to pay tax.

The man has interim name suppression and is next due to appear in the Cook Islands High Court at Rarotonga in mid-August.

The Cook Islands Crown Law Office is prosecuting the politician for six counts of failing to furnish value added tax and four of failing to furnish income tax.
