Plane services restored to American Samoa's Manu'a group

Inter Island Air resumed flights to Fitiuta Airport in American Samoa's Manu'a Islands today.

The airline operated two flights to Fitiuta Airport, one this morning and another this afternoon.

With the restoration of service, several American Samoa Government officials who were on Ta'u island for the Manu'a Cession Day celebrations last Saturday were finally able to return home.

They'd been stranded on Manu'a when an Inter Island plane developed mechanical problems and was grounded there.

The plane made it back to Tutuila yesterday after mechanics and parts were transported to Manu'a on a private fishing boat that the airline chartered.

The government inter island vessel, MV Sili, meanwhile is still not cleared to resume service.
