September trial of three former Post Fiji bosses put off

1:37 pm on 18 July 2011

The trial in relation to the three former executives of Post Fiji, Mahendra Patel, Peni Mau and Dhirendra Pratap will not go ahead in September.

Fijivillage reports that The Suva High Court has vacated the trial date after an application by Mau's lawyer.

The lawyer is awaiting an Appeals Court decision on the validity of the charge of abuse of office, for which Patel and Mau were jailed this year.

He has said the Court of Appeal decision will have a bearing on the case before the High court.

The new trial was called over charges of abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud.

Mau is charged with extortion by public officer while Pratap is charged with Aiding and Abetting and False Certificate by Public Officers.
