Sport: Fiji searching for further improvements against Japan

After seeing an improvement in their lineout Fiji are hoping some added TLC to their defence and ball-carrying abilities will pay off against Japan in Lautoka on Wednesday afternoon.

Fiji are joint second on the Pacific Nations Cup table with Japan and Samoa going into the final round of matches, with Tonga one point clear of all their rivals.

The Flying Fijians spent extra time at training fixing their lineout ahead of the win over Samoa and team manager Talemo Waqa says with that area now much improved they now want to tidy up some other parts of their game.

"Our defence has moved up a bit and we still would like to challenge ourselves to further that as Japan will open up doors that Tonga and Samoa, who plays up front most of the time, will exploit for us. So definately our defence will be tightened up and our ball carrying."

Fiji's next engagment after the Pacific Nations Cup is a test against the All Blacks in Dunedin next Friday.
