Fiji's Bainimarama to attend ACP Conference in Mozambique

11:10 am on 13 July 2011

Four key issues will be raised by the Fiji interim Government in its bid to address the ailing sugar industry.

The issues are expected to be presented during the 12th African Caribbean and Pacific Ministerial Conference on Sugar in Maputo, Mozambique, later this month.

Fiji will be represented by the Prime Minister and Minister for Sugar Commodore Frank Bainimarama, director for Sugar Viliame Gucake and Fiji's Ambassador to the European Union, Peceli Vocea.

Mr Gucake says Fiji was the furthest sugar producer and exporter from the European Union market of the ACP sugar producing countries.

He says first on Fiji's agenda is to find a market access for sugar.
