The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association, or SINTA, is threatening a nationwide strike if the government doesn't respond to calls for a Cost of Living Adjustment for public servants.
In October last year Sinta demanding an 11 point five percent cost of living adjustment, but the government is yet to respond.
The Association's general secretary, Johnley Hatimoana, says SINTA has met with other public sector unions to discuss a possible strike.
"What we are planning to do now is through the executive of our different unions is to talk with them and then if they agree with the proposal, we will have to say to the government 28 days strike notice to cover the essential services people. And we are looking forward to that. And I think it should be by the end of the month or early next month."
Johnley Hatimoana says a cost of living adjustment is needed as teachers are being hit hard by the rising cost of living in Solomon Islands.
