The leader of the opposition in Papua New Guinea, Belden Namah, has reiterated his support for a former judge's bid for a judicial review of the legality of the appointment of the acting Prime Minister Sam Abal.
Nemo Yalo's case due in court next week questions the constitutionality of Mr Abal's appointment, as well as that of Sir Arnold Amet as Attorney-General and Paul Tiensten to act as Governor General last December.
The court is to determine if the then Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane had the constitutional power to make the appointments while on leave.
Mr Namah says the rules around such appointments weren't observed.
"I think Nemo Yalo is doing the right thing by taking it through the judicial review to question those legalities. And I hope the courts can make the ruling n those issues quickly. The fact also is that we cannot have an acting Prime Minister for too long and that the whole situation of our current situation needs to be determined so that the country can move forward."
