The Pacific Islands Forum's secretary general, Tuiloma Neroni Slade, says the regional assistance mission to Solomon Islands, RAMSI, has made significant progress in the past year.

Mr Slade says details of these achievements are set out in the 2010 Annual Performance Report prepared by the Independent Experts Team on the work of RAMSI.

The Report has been endorsed by the Joint Performance Oversight Group, and is being discussed in Honiara today by the Forum Ministerial Standing Committee on RAMSI.

The report highlights the work of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, which with the support of the RAMSI Participating Police Force and its military contingent, ensured security around last year's elections.

It also points to progress in capacity development such as improvements in the justice sector.

And it says new financial management systems and the passage of a number of micro-economic reforms have also helped create a more stable platform for the economy.
