A woman in Samoa holding a high ranking oratory matai title has been penalised by a village council for an alleged extra-marital affair with a man from the same village.
Manuleleua Mele of Vaimoso village, and the publisher of a Samoan weekly newspaper Le Mau, has been ordered by the chiefs and orators to pay a fine and to provide food as punishment.
Our correspondent says Manuleleua denies the allegations, but will abide by the council's decision.
