Concerns at high numbers of teenage pregnancies in Fiji

1:59 pm on 20 June 2011

The Cakaudrove Provincial Council in Fiji is worried about the number of primary school age girls becoming pregnant.

The council's told the Fiji Times newspaper that since January, it has been made aware of seven pregnant students aged between 11 and 14.

It says the authority suspects there are many more cases that haven't been reported.

The council's called on parents to spend more time with their children and to have an open communication line.
