Samoa's Lady Naomi ferry returns to Matautu

11:08 am on 15 June 2011

Travelers and business people in Samoa using the inter island ferry Lady Naomi are happy that the ferry has returned to the wharf at Matautu.

For more than a month now, the ferry has stopped using the wharf at Satitoa, Aleipata.

The Samoa Shipping Corporation has made the temporary change after the Lady Naomi suffered damages which were apparently caused by the Aleipata wharf not being deep enough.

Since Samoa began using the Aleipata wharf, travelers have complained that while the sea voyage is faster, land transportation and the amount of time it takes to travel from Aleipata to Apia and vice versa is too long and more expensive.

It's not known when the Lady Naomi will return to using the Aleipata wharf.
